Some common household products may be hazardous to the health of you and your family. This website is intended to help you learn about, and avoid, the health risks that are associated with household products used both inside and outside the home.

The mission of ToxFreeHome.org is to share knowledge about three main areas:

    • Products used in the home that contain toxic chemicals
    • The effects of being exposed to those chemicals
    • Ways to reduce the risks of exposure

    What are Toxic Chemicals?

Some chemicals are hazardous because they explode, burn, or react easily with other chemicals.

Other chemicals are hazardous because they are toxic. This means that they can cause harm when they contact or enter the body. Exposure to toxic chemicals can result in:

    • Irritation or burning of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat.
    • nausea
    • headaches
    • vomitting
    • cancer
    • asthma
    • even death
